Psoriatic arthritis is a type of arthritis and can get chronic. It affects people with psoriasis skin condition. The disorder can make you prone to other ailments that come with it. Researchers are raising awareness of risks related to psoriatic arthritis. A deep screening is required to effectively manage the condition. A study by American college of rheumatology shows that 15% of people suffering psoriasis have a high probability of suffering arthritis. Finding out the effects is important to understanding the condition and help seek medical assistance. Psoriatic arthritis can cause dramatic effects on your body.

1. Behavioral changes
Psoriatic arthritis may cause pain and uneasiness. This affects general mental health. Pain can lead to being uncomfortable and feeling irritated. People with this condition can get frequent mood swings. When people suffering psoriatic arthritis do not access ways to manage it, they get prone to conditions like depression and being embarrassed of their situation. These effects greatly affect their emotional health. In turn, their behavior changes affecting their social life especially when low self-esteem comes in. Encouraging people with this condition to get counseling and accept support from friends will help manage the effects of the disease.

2. Poor Health of the hair, skin and nails
Skin forms the largest organ in our bodies, the organ acts as a screen displaying what is happening inside the body. The health and resilience of the hair and nails are important. They are what make our appearance wonderful.

Psoriasis is a commonly known skin disorder with effects that can impair the health of the skin. The disorder causes red patches on the skin and a dry, rough skin. The skin can also get itchy creating a tendency to scratch. Itching can get unbearable at times. Scratching in public is definitely not a good show. Seeing a doctor will help lessen the itching, this might involve using prescribed creams
Scratching the skin releases ugly whitish flakes. Scratching the scalp cause flakes to form which inhibit healthy hair growth. The nails tend to grow ab

normally and get discolored. This makes your nails unattractive and the issue can get into your nerves. Psoriatic arthritis is permanent; seeking ways in which it can be managed will help.

3. Poor Joint Health
Healthy joints facilitate our movement and aid in performing tasks efficiently. Psoriatic arthritis affects the health of the joints by causing inflammation. Joint inflammation can cause the joints to ache. The joints can also get stiff to allow any movements and they may swell uncontrollably at times. Therapies and regular exercising are needed to give strength to your muscles and make them more flexible.

The affected areas include body joints like the knees and shoulders. Study shows that sore tendons and ligaments that connect to the bones are the most experienced symptoms of psoriatic arthritis. These effects can be managed by exercising in water and undertaking exercises which do not affect your aching joints. A study by the Spondylitis Association of America shows 5% of people suffering psoriatic arthritis can develop arthritis mutilans; this is a more chronic form of arthritis which can result to irreversible disability and deformity of limbs.

4. Impaired Muscle Development
Muscle health is important as it can make the joints inactive. This can be detrimental; we need some movement to be active and to keep up with life. People who suffer psoriatic arthritis should commit themselves in regular exercise as recommended by their physician. Exercise will keep their muscles alive and active.

Arthritis causes chronic inflammation which harm cartilages that support the bones. Its severity leads to weak muscle development.

5. Visual Impairment
Psoriasis can cause inflammation lesions. This can affect your eyesight. Can you imagine losing your eyesight? The answer is obviously a big no. Inflammation triggers visual problems. People with arthritis should consult a doctor when they experience inflammation lesions. Only a rare case of psoriasis can cause eyesight loss.

Taking foods with anti-inflammatory properties can help downplay the damage by psoriasis on your visual health. Most of these foods are natural and have no harm to the body.

6. Auto-immune body response
The auto- immune body response is very important in fighting pathogens. It protects the body against different illness and conditions. Psoriatic arthritis treatment can lead to automatic body immune response that can start fighting the joints. The body immune is only designed to attack external intruders like bacteria, fungi and viruses.

Conclusion
Psoriatic arthritis can attack anyone. People with this condition should seek medical assistance regularly. The disorder can get complicated as it comes with other conditions. At personal level, people with arthritis should live healthy lifestyles. A proper and healthy diet should be incorporated. Moderate exercising has also been found to help. Some effect s from psoriatic arthritis are inevitable. People suffering the condition need support from family, friends and support groups.

Beat Arthritis This 2016: 6 Best Resolutions for the New Year

With the another coming in just a couple of days, we now come up with various new year’s resolutions to stay fit, active, and healthy. For people suffering from arthritis, New Year signifies another hope in battling signs and symptoms of joint pain. It is the right time of the year to start making lifestyle changes and dietary modifications to help fight against the symptoms of arthritis.

Here are some of the best New Year’s resolutions that are fit for people suffering from arthritis:

Exercise Regularly

Staying active and having regular exercise is one of the best things to give your joint this coming 2016. Exercise provides many benefits not only to your joints but also to your overall health. It enhances your stamina, works your cardiovascular system, and strengthens your musculoskeletal system. More importantly, for people with arthritis, regular exercise can improve joint flexibility thereby reducing stiffness and discomfort.  It also stimulates blood flow thus delivering oxygen and nutrients to the joints and cartilages. Engaging in regular exercise also enhances the distribution of synovial fluid in the joints thus making every movement smoother with reduced overall joint discomfort. It also strengthens the muscles that support our joints thus reducing the stress on the joints during each activity.

In choosing the correct exercise, find a routine that is less bearing on the joints. You can always consult your doctor or physical therapist for the proper techniques that you can follow when you exercise so further damage to the joints can be avoided.

Eat Healthy, Live Healthy

In 2016, opt for healthier food choices rather than consuming oily, processed, and commercially prepared food selections. Dietary modification can definitely contribute in reducing signs and symptoms of joint pain. In the coming year, consume foods that are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids that contain anti-inflammatory properties which can help reduce joint swelling, inflammation, and discomfort. Omega-3 also provides heaps of health benefits for the body like improving vision, enhancing cardiac health, and promoting neurologic health. Consume more fish rather than red meat because they are rich in theses healthy fatty acids. Walnuts and chia seeds are also good snack choices if you want to keep your joints healthy.

Stay away from pro-inflammatory foods that can worsen your arthritis. These foods include those that use sugar, artificial sweeteners, refined grains, pasteurized dairy, and trans-fatty acids. Avoiding alcohol will also greatly benefit your joints. Instead, opt for foods that are rich in antioxidants to protect joint and cartilage cells from damage caused by oxidation of free radicals. Foods rich in antioxidants include green tea, vegetables, and fruits.

Stop, Relax, and Enjoy

A busy schedule and more activities mean more stress for the joints. So give them a break, pause for a while and enjoy the benefits of the body’s natural repair mechanism. While staying active is important, rest is also equally adamant to allow your joints to heal themselves. Constant rigorous activities puts burden on the joints, exposes them to frictional damage, and depletes them with essential nutrients. Thus, enough rest periods is also necessary especially for people suffering from arthritis.

Lose Weight

Carrying on extra weight does not only impose health dangers but also puts excessive stress on the joints. Excess weight puts more pressure on the joints during each movement thus they more exposed to frictional damage and degeneration damage. Overweight people usually have joint flexibility and mobility thereby further worsening the signs and symptoms of joint pain. For the year 2016, monitor your BMI (Body Mass Index), it is the measure of body fat depending on your height and weight. Keeping your BMI within the normal range puts contributes to less stress on your joints so pain and inflammation can be minimized.

Pamper Your Joints

A physical therapy goes a long way for people suffering from arthritis. With professional help, the range-of-motion of stiff and inflamed joints can be improved. Regular physical therapy session also corrects any habits that have been formed due to arthritis like bad posture or angle during ambulation. Massage also helps joint health by improving blood flow to the area and enhancing flexibility. The gentle pressure caused by massage strokes also stimulates lymphatic flow thereby effectively reducing joint inflammation and swelling. Another pampering technique for your joints is dipping in a tub with warm water. Not only does it stimulates blood flow but also relaxes stiff and swollen joints. You can also add Epsom salt in the water before dipping in as it contains minerals that stimulate joint and cartilage repair.

Go Natural

Instead of buying artificial supplements, painkillers and anti-inflammatory pills, why don’t you try DIY remedies for signs and symptoms of joint pain that can be made right at the comfort of your own home. Try herbal concoction like ginger and turmeric tea to naturally reduce joint inflammation. Willow bark tea also consists of potent anti-inflammatory agents called salicin that can effectively reduce joint pain, swelling, and discomfort. Taking 2-3 tablespoons of Extra-Virgin Olive oil lubricates the joints thereby improving flexibility and mobility. Avoiding pharmaceutical products that have been commercially prepared will not only benefit your joints but will also protect your vital organs from the damaging side effects of these medications.

"Milk"- Does It Really Helps Relieve Arthritis Symptoms

Most of us in childhood hate drinking milk; we do lots of drama in front of parents that we don't want to drink milk with childish excuses that it tastes bad or smell bad. To all this drama our parents just say that milk is good and it will help you to grow up big and strong like a super hero.

Whether milk will make you a super hero or not but will make you

help relief arthritis symptom. This fact about milk is reveled in a new research done on 2000 arthritis patients by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  The researcher clubbed men and women who have arthritis and then analyzed the information about their diets and x-rayed the knees every year for continuously four years.

Through this study it is found that milk helps to slow down the progress of disease. This fact was seen in both men and women, but men were suggested to drink seven or more glasses a week to see the same results as what their counterpart women have shown.

The result of this can differ; as it is true that the food that we eat will affect our body depending upon who that food gets digested and absorbed in our bodies. Thus before ending this new research the scientist has said that people with arthritis should start drinking milk which is low-fat or is fat-free milk.

This research is published in Arthritis Care & Research online journals

What causes arthritis?

If your joints have pain, inflammation, redness, stiffness, swelling. If yes, all these symptoms are basically known as arthritis symptoms. Arthritis is defined as pain and inflammation of musculoskeletal system that affect the joints of your body.

It is estimated that 2 of 5 American is said to have one or the other form of arthritis. It is rising on an alarming rate. Whatever the solution of the problem, it first comes into the mind that-"what causes arthritis?"

To understand in a better way, let's have a look over the working of joints.
    Fig: Normal Healthy Joint
    Source: Google search

  • Joint is basically a junction between two bones. These bones are held together by muscles and ligaments. Due to their proper working bones move with ease and causes no pain in junction point.
  • Then the bones are covered by cartilage to protect them from rubbing to each other. This is a scientific fact that cartilages are the lubricating factor that helps bone to work smoothly without any friction.
  • After that comes the synovial fluid. Synovial fluid nourishes the joint and the cartilage.
  • When you have arthritis the synovial fluid and cartilage starts to wear out. Due to this wear and tear of synovial fluid the bones starts rubbing to each other.
  • Along with that sometimes lack of synovial fluid, infection in the cartilage, or the combination of all can lead to arthritis.

This cause comes under one roof, the other roof reasons are:

  • Internal injury.
  • Inflammation of the tendon.
  • Bone infection.
  • Overuse of bones.
  • Age and Genetic factor.
  • Cancer.

Whatever the cause if you have unexplained joint pain, then don't waste your time just checked by your doctor.

Source: Images.google.com

It’s not always that when you have joint pain it’s only due to arthritis. It can also be due to other reasons. Your body is a complicated machine that has lots of internal mechanism and internal work process.

Let’s have a look over the 3 Basic Facts about the human body that can help you to get relief to your joint pain.

Source: Images.google.com
Fact 1: BONES goes where MUSCLES pull them:

This is quite understandable that bones don’t move on their own will.  They are just like an anchor that helps the muscles to perform their jobs. Thus if your muscles pain, you think that your internal bone joints are paining.

Fact 2: MUSCLES do what NERVES tell them to do:

Now you will ask how muscles do the work????. It’s the nerve you tell them to do the job. The nerves are responsible for each and every single action that you do. If nerve are traced along the muscles pathway properly your pain cause can be actually know and can help to free the pain.

Fact 3: JOINTS are made up of bones, muscles and soft-tissues:

Your soft tissue includes tendons, ligaments, and cartilage.  There will no tension and pressure on the soft tissue if the bone and muscles works properly.  Your soft tissue pains only when your bone, muscles and nerves are affected.

Conclusion

The pain in the joint can be just due to pain in your muscles. First try to think about the reason for the joints pain. If nothing improves in your condition and it is worsening day by day then you must consult a doctor.
